Artist bio
Mario Vélez is a Colombian artist with more than thirty-five years of artistic work, recognized for his exploration of material, rhythm, form and spatial perception. His practice merges gesture and architecture, building quiet dialogues between chaos and order, memory and surface, light and structure.
His work has been exhibited internationally and is part of private and institutional collections. This exhibition marks his first presentation in Amsterdam.

about openframe
OPENFRAME is a temporary exhibition platform based in Amsterdam, presenting established and mid–career artists whose work has not yet been shown locally. With a focus on discovery, curation and cross–cultural artistic exchange, each edition unfolds as a one–week pop–up — a moment of encounter where new voices and new geographies enter dialogue with the city.
Our curatorial approach is minimal, architectural and intentional. We believe in giving space to the work itself — removing commercial noise and allowing collectors, institutions and the public to engage directly with the art.
OPENFRAME will host 3–4 editions per year, beginning with Colombian artist Mario Vélez. Future editions will explore artists from regions rarely presented
in Amsterdam, creating bridges of visibility, context and cultural exchange.
